Ado-Ekiti – Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti has ordered queries
to be issued to workers of Ilejemeje Local Government Council who
were absent during his unscheduled visit to the council on Monday.
A statement issued on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti by Mr Olayinka Oyebode,
the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, said the state’s Local
Government Service Commission had been directed to issue the queries.
The statement said the governor gave the directive when he discovered
that only 42 of the entire staff of the council were at work when he
visited the secretariat.
The governor visited the secretariat between 8:15 am and 8:35am.
The council chairman,Mr Adegoroye Bamigboye, nor his supervisory councillors were in the office.
Also absent during the governor’s visit were the Director of Administration, the Treasurer as well as majority of the staff.
Worried by the development, the governor requested for the attendance register and discovered that only 42 workers had signed.
He subsequently went away with the register and directed the commission to issue queries to those who were absent.
The inspection took the governor round some on-going road and school projects in the council area.(NAN)
